Our aim is to create a safe, supportive and active learning environment. We strive to ensure that pupils, regardless of ability, are challenged to take risks in their thinking and perform to their full potential. We are proud of our inspiring learning environment, housed in a state-of- the art building. Science is taught by highly qualified specialists and supported by a wonderful group of technicians and teaching assistants.

At Key Stage 3, we have undertaken a programme of redevelopment of the curriculum in order to ensure that teaching helps to develop crucial independent  inquiry skills that will benefit pupils on whatever academic or vocational path they follow in the future.  Science is assessed through tests and extended milestone assessments. These include creative model-making, practical investigations and extended discursive writing on controversial topics such as IVF and genetic engineering.

At Key Stage 4, pupils follow either the Triolgy GCSE leading to two combined science qualifications or thre three separate GCSE Sciences, Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Decisions about the most appropriate course to follow are taken in Year 10.
