Public Consultation

The College is currently consulting on a change to our admissions policy. Criterion 2 in the attached draft has been recommended by the Department for Education and the college proposes that we adopt this change with effect from 2020-21. The College also intends to increase its published admissions number for Year 7 from 210 to 240. This draft policy will be presented to the Local Governing Body for their information on 4 December, to be ratified on 12 February following and subject to public consultation.

 Admissions Policy 2020-2021

Welcome to the Sawston Village College website. I am delighted that you are considering our school for your child’s secondary education. We are committed to providing a happy, safe and stimulating environment in which your child will achieve his or her full potential. We welcome all parents who share this ambition, as a strong partnership between home and school is essential, if each child is to do his or her best.

You and your child are encouraged to read our prospectus and to visit the college, either on our Open Evening in October, or during the working day. Please telephone our reception on 01223 712777 to make an appointment and one of our senior teachers will be happy to show you around.

The application process for admissions into Year 7 for the start of the school year is co-ordinated by Cambridgeshire LA, who acts on behalf of the Governing Body to offer places at the college. For further information and full details on how to apply please visit the LA website at

To apply for a place after the start of the school year, or for any other year group, please contact the LA Admissions Team for an ‘In-Year School Application Form’ by telephone on 0345 045 1370 or by email to
