Pupil Leadership at Sawston Village College

Pupil Leadership at Sawston Village College

There are many opportunities to get involved in leadership activities at Sawston Village College. Firstly, we have the Pupil Forums: Ethos, Eco, Amnesty, Sports, Animal and International. These groups, open to all pupils, are dedicated to improving the school and wider community, locally and internationally. Their recent work has included organising charity events, investigating what makes good teaching and learning (and feeding back to staff), leading our International Week events, taking part in Holocaust Memorial Day events, teaching Year 6 pupils, corresponding with our partner school in Rwanda, and much more. The forums are led by members of the Pupil Senate, senior Year 11 pupils who pass a rigorous application process. They, under the guidance of the Head Girl and Head Boy, represent the voice of pupils here at Sawston.

We also have Sports Leaders, RE Leaders, the Tech. Crew and Sawston Cinema team, along with regular opportunities to support the College with teacher interviews, review panels and giving guided tours. We are always looking for new ways of developing those essential leadership skills in our pupils, so new ideas are welcomed.

The 2020-21 Senate look forward to introducing themselves and their ambitions for the College on film shortly. Until we have that film available, please enjoy this film from the 2019-20 Senate Heads and Deputies.
