Coronavirus (Covid19) Update June 1st

31st May 2020

From Monday 1st June, Sawston Village College remains closed to all pupils except children of critical workers and vulnerable pupils. In-school provision is only available to the children of parents/carers who work in a role listed in the critical worker category published by the government or their child has an EHCP or social worker and is considered vulnerable. Should eligible parents/carers wish to make use of the in-school provision then they should contact at least 24 hours in advance of sending their child to school. We cannot accept pupils who turn up on the day without advance notification as we need to plan numbers and staffing for the safety of our staff and pupils. In-school provision is not taught lessons or normal schooling. Instead it involves pupils completing home learning tasks whilst supervised within school.

In the week beginning June 8th, pupils will not be set home learning in the normal way. This would have been our Activities Week. Pupils will be provided with a menu of enrichment opportunities and mini-projects for the week rather than curriculum based home learning. Year 10 pupils will be contacted by teachers during this week to discuss academic progress. All pupils may wish to use this week as an opportunity to catch up on any missed work. This can be done by looking back through ShowMyHomework.

From June 15th, provision for Year 10 may change in line with government's guidance (published May 25th) but the school will remain closed to all pupils in Years 7-9 except those children of critical workers or vulnerable pupils. The school will not be open to all Year 10s. More information on this will be provided by June 12th.
