Careers
Sawston Village College works in partnership with the Cambridge Connexions Service to offer guidance and advice regarding a range of social and educational issues such as health, personal matters and careers.
A Personal Adviser attends each week to offer general information to students about their future careers pathways. For those students with more specific needs the service of an Intensive Personal Adviser are available. Students should contact Mrs Young, Careers Coordinator, in the library or their Head of Year if they wish to make an appointment to see the Personal Adviser.
The Careers Library is located in the School Library which is open to all students at break and lunchtime each day. There students will find copies of prospectuses for local sixth form colleges, and leaflets, magazines and cds giving information on many career choices. There are also books which give guidance on writing CVs and letters of application, and advice regarding interviews. There is also a careers computer which students may use to access the many useful careers websites which are available, some of which are listed below.
Students are encouraged to speak to their tutors, Head of Year or the Careers Coordinator at any time should they need advice on any matter regarding their future goals.
