Art & Design
Art and Design at SVC is a practical based subject taught by specialist teachers in two fully equipped art rooms. Students are given the opportunity to develop their skills in painting, drawing, printmaking and three dimensional work using media such as paint, oil pastels, charcoal, pencil and clay.
Students are encouraged to express their creativity whilst learning basic skills which will prepare them for later studies.

KS4
For GCSE students will spend time looking at printmaking, painting, drawing and three dimensional work. They will be encouraged to look at the work of other artists and relate it to their own work. Students are also given the opportunity to spend a day working in a professional print studio as well as visiting the Tate Modern, Tate Britain and the Victoria & Albert Museum.
The Art and Design course is entirely project based. There is also and end of course practical exam which you will be given 6 weeks to prepare for. Coursework makes up 60% of the total marks while the exam accounts for the remaining 40%
